Thermal therapy is a
practice that utilizes temperature manipulation of bodily tissues in order to
treat disease. Thermal therapy has a long recorded history and has been used
for a variety of medical applications. Research has advanced the field of study
and developed the technology; this has broadened the scope for the uses of
thermal therapy in medicine. Thermal therapy includes hyperthermia, thermal
ablation, and heat- activated drug delivery. As research continues to
evolve this field of study, clinical trials will continue to surface and bring
about new methods of treatment through thermal therapy.
